Tell us about the one pair of sneakers you couldn't live without?
The Air Jordan III is one of my favourite Jordans. The 2011 Black Cement III's are always in my rotation everywhere I go. It is one of my holy grails. It was the first time Nike debuted the iconic Jumpman logo after the staple wings in the 1's and 2's. It was different. The elephant print was distinguishable. The colourway was so versatile to wear with anything. I loved the pair instantly the first time we met in 2001 when my mother gifted me my first pair. 7 years later, we met again in the CDP pack. It was only right to get them one last time in 2011 making them my 3peat and favourite pair of all time.
How did you come across them?
It was Black Friday. I had to work at 8AM that day. I decided to try my luck for the midnight release at my nearby Footlocker. Camping wasn't as crazy as it is today. I pulled up and I was number #5 in line around 12:30AM. I went in with a smile and I walked out with a fresh pair. I slept so good that day.
What led you to sneaker collecting?
I appreciate the value and the history of every sneaker I own. It represents a time and place. A individual memory and fragments of my life.
If given the chance to collaborate on one sneaker design, which brand and model would you choose? What would the finished product look like?
Jordan for sure and I would go for an Air Jordan 1 or Air Jordan III. If I ever get a chance, you will see.
Tell us about the most memorable sneakers from your childhood.
I don't think anything can beat the unforgettable story of my Air Jordan III.
Were there any sneakers you couldn't afford growing up?
All the sneakers were sort of affordable growing up. Good grades and saving my allowance helped a lot. I also learn to appreciate and take care of my shoes early so I was blessed to get what I want.
What is your biggest sneaker pet peeve?
Some laces suck, they are too long or sometimes not thick enough.
Tell us about your most recent pickup.
My most recent pick up was a metallic gold 2010 Air Max 97. Saw a steal and went for it.
What pair of sneakers continues to elude you?
Air Jordan 1, my collection just keeps growing.
